Villa Picasso is no typical Belgian coastal home. It is an architectural manifesto in the dunes of the Witte Burg — built in 2016 from raw materials, designed around light, and made livable with the care of a collector.

Concrete, glass and walnut form the skeleton. Within: icons — a Rietveld Red & Blue, a cognac De Sede Terrazza, a Noguchi-style glass table, and — of course — art that nods to the namesake.

Interior

Designed to live in.

Two living rooms each with their own character. The first around a modular cognac-leather sofa and a Noguchi-style glass coffee table, anchored by an original Rietveld Red & Blue — a nod to the modernism that was Picasso's contemporary.

The second, a floor up, revolves around a gas fireplace and a curved bouclé sofa looking out onto the dunes. Two Picasso-style sketches on the wall — not reproductions, but homages.

Walnut floors throughout. Carrara marble in the bathrooms. Shag rugs, sheepskin, linen curtains. Nothing that shouts, everything that fits.

Dining room with cluster pendant lighting
Layout

Ten guests,
no compromise.

Four bedrooms across two floors. A master bedroom with double bed and ensuite bathroom. Two bedrooms each with two single beds, sharing a bathroom. And a spacious family room with two double beds and two built-in children's beds — for families travelling with grandparents, children or friends.

The double-height dining room with cluster pendant lighting comfortably seats ten. Above, from the open kitchen, you overlook the whole living space. Beneath the main volume: an underground garage for four cars, a generous storage area, a Technogym treadmill, and — for the less serious moments — table football and a kamado BBQ.

Oostduinkerke beach — one of the widest on the coast, famous for its horse-back shrimp fishermen — is reached by a quarter-hour walk through the dunes.
